Monthly Theme: Legacy
When I think of the word “legacy” I think of:
– Steve Jobs: entrepreneur, inventor and co-founder/CEO of Apple Inc. Widely recognized as a pioneer in the personal computer field.
– My French ancestors who travelled to what is now Quebec: various family members travelled from Bretagne (province of Brittany, France) to start a new life in Upper Canada.
– St Francis of Assisi: an Italian Catholic friar and preacher who founded the Franciscan Order, Order of St. Clare and Third Order of Saint Francis. Known as the patron saint of animals and the environment.
– Princess Diana: British royal who worked tirelessly for a number of charities especially those centered around children.
They are an eclectic group of people who have influenced people and generations in many different ways.
The Ripple Effect
As one can see from the image above, first impressions can have a lasting effect. It is important to recognize this opportunity and responsibility one has when meeting, working, and engaging with people.
In the work that I do with Administrators and Teachers, I regard the importance of investing my energy in sharing the school division Vision and Mission while supporting the work they are doing in their schools and their classrooms. It is important for me to offer various professional learning opportunities – face to face, elbow to elbow, large groups, via webinars or archived video clips, dialogue and discussions, etc. It’s also about building that capacity of teachers.
